5.5. Abstract Numerals

The nominalizing suffix -t derives an inanimate singular noun from any numeral, referring to the number itself as an abstract entity:

vai ahtt ashenti? vahti.

vai
how_many
aht-t
two-nmlz
ashen-t-i?
sixteen-nmlz-pred
vahti.
eight-pred

How many two's are in sixteen? Eight.

hreis hrvattah shtehreshenhreisti.

hreis
three
hrvat-t-ah
five-nmlz-4pl
shtehreshen-hreis-t-i
thirty_two-three-nmlz-pred

Three fives equal thirty-five.

If the numeral consists of multiple words, the suffix -t applies to the last component. In an attributive clause, however, the predicative -i applies to the first component:

shtehr ashenshtehrtah uhreni ashent.

shtehr
four
ashen-shtehr-t-ah
sixteen-four-nmlz-4pl
uhren-i
sixty_four-pred
ashen-t
